Ways to use a blank chart

Fill in one row at a time, starting with the tables you know best: 1, 2, 5 and 10.
Fill the diagonal first. Those are the square numbers: 1, 4, 9, 16, 25 and so on.
Only fill in half. The chart is a mirror image, so 3 × 8 and 8 × 3 share the answer 24.
Time yourself filling the whole chart, and try to beat your time next week.
Check your answers against the filled 1–12 chart, then practise the ones you missed with worksheets.

What is a blank multiplication chart?

It’s a multiplication chart with the numbers along the top and down the side, but empty squares. Filling it in from memory is one of the best ways to practise times tables.

Which size of blank chart should I print?

1–10 for beginners, 1–12 for the usual school goal, and 1–15 or 1–20 once the first twelve tables are secure.
