How to work out any table up to 100
You don’t need to memorise big tables. Build them from the ones you already know.
- Split into tens and ones. 47 × 6 = 40 × 6 + 7 × 6 = 240 + 42 = 282.
- Round up and take away. 59 is 60 − 1, so 59 × 7 = 420 − 7 = 413.
- Double a table you know. 36 is double 18, so 36 × 4 = 72 × 2 = 144.
- Use the zeros. 80 × 6 is 8 × 6 = 48 with a 0 on the end: 480.

How many times tables are there?

Do I need to learn the times tables up to 100?
No. Knowing 1 to 12 by heart is plenty for most people. Bigger tables are quicker to work out than to memorise: 47 × 6 is 40 × 6 + 7 × 6 = 240 + 42 = 282.
What is the 100 times table?
Multiplying by 100 adds two zeros to the other number: 100 × 7 = 700 and 100 × 12 = 1,200.
