How to remember the 47 times table
- Split 47 into 40 and 7: 47 × 9 = 40 × 9 + 7 × 9 = 360 + 63 = 423.
- 47 is 50 − 3, so multiply by 50 and take 3 lots away: 47 × 6 = 50 × 6 − 3 × 6 = 300 − 18 = 282.
- 47 is a prime number: it isn’t in any times table except 1 and 47, so splitting it into tens and ones is the quickest way to work out its facts.
