How to remember the 87 times table
- Split 87 into 80 and 7: 87 × 9 = 80 × 9 + 7 × 9 = 720 + 63 = 783.
- 87 is 90 − 3, so multiply by 90 and take 3 lots away: 87 × 6 = 90 × 6 − 3 × 6 = 540 − 18 = 522.
- 87 is 3 × 29, so multiply by 29 first, then by 3: 87 × 7 = 3 × 203 = 609.
- Look out for 87 × 8 = 696: the answer reads the same forwards and backwards.
