How to remember the 21 times table
- Split 21 into 20 and 1: 21 × 7 = 20 × 7 + 1 × 7 = 140 + 7 = 147.
- 21 is 3 × 7, so multiply by 7 first, then by 3: 21 × 6 = 3 × 42 = 126.
- Look out for 21 × 12 = 252: the answer reads the same forwards and backwards.
Patterns in the 21 times table
- Each answer is 21 more than the one before: 21, 42, 63, 84, 105 and so on.
- The last digits run 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 0, using every digit once before repeating.
- Answers take turns being odd and even: odd × odd is odd, odd × even is even.
- Keep adding the digits of any answer and you always reach 3, 6 or 9.
