How to remember the 22 times table

  • Split 22 into 20 and 2: 22 × 8 = 20 × 8 + 2 × 8 = 160 + 16 = 176.
  • 22 is double 11, so double the 11 times table: 11 × 7 = 77, and 77 × 2 = 154.
  • Look out for 22 × 11 = 242: the answer reads the same forwards and backwards.

Patterns in the 22 times table

  • Each answer is 22 more than the one before: 22, 44, 66, 88, 110 and so on.
  • The last digits repeat every 5 answers: 2, 4, 6, 8, 0.
  • Every answer is even, because an even number times anything is even.
  • 22 × 22 = 484 is a square number: 22 rows of 22.
